Whitney McVeigh was born in New York, USA in 1968. She studied at the Edinburgh College of Art where she began to explore visual arts in relation to sculptural form and the portrait head. McVeigh has travelled extensively for her work, with significant periods spent in Europe, India and China while keeping a home base in the UK. In 2006 she attended the Salon of Louise Bourgeois in New York where she gave a short talk about her current work. In 2007 she was artist in resident at NY Arts in their Beijing space where she was shown with another British painter.

Whitney McVeigh is currently represented by Being 3 Gallery in China and Sieff Gallery in London. In late 2008 she will be given a solo show by Being 3 in China. In November 2007, she showed at the Broadway Gallery in New York. She has worked on portrait commissions and has shown both in solo and group shows internationally. Most recently Arcaute Contemporaneo have taken her work on in Mexico. In March this year McVeigh showed with Saatchi online at Form Art fair and at The Gallery, Soho with Belgian photographer Pascal Demeester. Her work featured in the Times, Financial Times and NY Arts magazine in March 2008. In June, 2008, NY Arts magazine published �Bed Heads� online and 3 Heads will feature in the July issue of the magazine. An interview and images of the Heads will feature in Point de Vue magazine in August 2008.

I have been painting about 15 years, I have always been mesmerized by the human form, my current work concentrates on the nude, and surrealism, and the medium that I use is oil. My interest is focused in the different aspects of the human relationship, the feelings, the emotions, love, and pain.
When I paint I like to add drama by adding light and shadow enhancements to get more _expression to accent the theme of every painting. I have several collectives exhibitions and 15 solo show, I have been showing my artwork in South America, United States, and Europa (Spain)

The Mathematics of Creativity

A commentary on the artwork of artist Stanford Slutsky�

To fully appreciate the talent of artist Stanford Slutsky, it helps to have paid at least a little attention in math class. Stan�s use of geometric shapes bends the mind as well as challenges the eye. Using basic shapes, and blending the shapes with fabulous hues of varying color shades, Stan creates a sense of motion and wonder in all of his designs. Simple shapes are combined and arrayed in patterns that move and change before a viewer; complex optical illusions, all dependent upon Stan�s amazing grasp of geometric, mathematical relationships and design.

Stan�s more recent works, on wood with acrylic paints, are cleverly constructed with magnets. The magnets permit the viewer to move around the shapes and colors to create new designs and patterns, the options are virtually limitless.

Mr. Slutsky does not limit himself to a standard rectangular background, but instead, will also use spherical or triangular forms on which to work his magic. Each piece is perfectly measured, balanced and executed. The more one studies each work of Stan Slutsky�s, the more one stands in awe of his complete mastery of his material and design and the infinite possibilities of his imagination.

Each artwork has a number as part of the title. The number represents the actual position the work holds in Mr. Slutsky�s lifetime of creativity.
