I am a visual artist who is trying to explore the possibilities of using art to bridge the communications gaps between cultures, particularly those of the East and the West. I believe in openness, sharing and dialogue as central elements for a universe of understanding.

In my practice, I utilise different mediums to contribute to the achievement of my purpose. Therefore, you can expect me to work on photography projects (Film and digital), painting, mixed media and installation or combination of these.

SHORT BIOGRAPHY
CLAUDIU VICTOR GHEORGHIU

My name is GHEORGHIU CLAUDIU VICTOR and I was born on 19th of October 1967 in Bucharest.
I am Romanian orthodox and I live in Bucharest.
In 1998 I took the master degree at University from Bucharest ,the Faculty of History- universal old history section- with theme (CONSTANTIN the GREAT and CHRISTIANITY) at professor LIGIA BARZU.).
In 1991 I graduated ART SCHOOL , PAINTING section with TITU DRAGUTESCU.
In 1982 I graduated MUSIC and PLASTIC ART SCHOOL no.2 with teachers TITU DRAGUTESCU, GHEORGHE ARDELEANU and ION MINOIU.

2001, August-I had my first personal exhibition with icons on wood at ArTei Gallery Bucharest, organizated by Romanian Artists Union-UAP, curator ANA DOBJANSCHI, art historian.

Personal Exhibitions in Italy:
I was the Guest of honour, representing Romania, with icons on wood, during the 15th-30th of June, 2003 at Pisa, Italy, at Artestate 2003 - Miracoli d’arte Citta di Pisa, organizated by Spazio d’arte-Proposte Culturali Association, La Spina Art Gallery and Pisa Townhall.
6-27 October 2006- my personal exhibition named �THE ICONES, sacred pictures in contemporary world�, at Cinema Theatre VITTORIA Art Gallery - my reference gallery in Italy from October 2006, Gramsci place no.2, organizated by mr. SILVANO FARLONI, my art manager in ITALY and townhall of Viadana (Mantova province).

2003, April-I had my second personal exhibition at the same gallery,Bucharest, organizated by Romanian Artists Union, curator VASILE BORILA, art historian .

2004, June/July-I have the third personal exhibition in Bucharest,at ArTei Gallery, organizated by Romanian Artists Union, named THE APOSTLES, curator COSTION NICOLESCU, theologian .
June/July 2007- I have the fourth personal exhibition in Bucharest, at Galateea Gallery organizated by UAP, named �THE MARTYRIZATION OF THE APOSTLES�.

AWARDS, DISTINCTIONS

In July/August 2006 I have been selected and I participated at Premio TAORMINA, Sicily, Italy, where I received with my icon on wood�THE LAST SUPPER� Special Prize of the Critic�, my icon it was exposed at Corvaja Palace from Taormina and it�s published in the july/august 2006 number of Arte BOE review.

In December 2006 I have been selected and I participated at 2 Premio BOE Palermo, Sicily, Italy, where I received with my icon on wood�ST. LUKE WITH SCENES FROM HIS LIFE� Special Prize of the Critic�, my icon it was exposed at Il Tempio gallery from Palermo in february 2007.

In may 2001 I participated at the 26th Rassegna Internazionale �La Telaccia d`oro, 2001� at Torino, �Sacred Art� section and I was selected in final fase.
In june 2002 I participated at the 27th Rassegna Internazionale �La Telaccia d`oro 2002� at Torino, �Renaissance or Decline in Art� section and I was selected in final fase (details in the Magazine �Arte�, october 2002, no. 350, page 207).
