Born 1979, United States

American born, Andréa Elizabeth DeFelice, is an interdisciplinary artist who works in video installation, sound, and sculptural cinematic devices.

I am fascinated by the physical senses, behavioral psychology, and how things are affected by surrounding environments and forces. In many ways, my work focuses on human physicality and sometimes, by implication, mortality. It comments on the stages of change that can develop, both in objects and in people. The outcomes are meant to be seductive, intimate, and suggestively disturbing, with a slight presence of humor. I work in a way that would reflect the actual experiences that I have in my own life. My process is also about people coming together and communicating. Among my most important concerns in my artistic process is to inspire perceptiveness and bring about controversy over why and how surrounding influences affect our behavior and experiences in everyday life—primarily the experiences related to our bodies and our personal (mis)conceptions.

I currently live and work in New York.
