In the progressive program at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design Joseph Metcalf honed skills and explored the world of contemporary art. Under the guidance of Clark Rickert, the chair of the painting department, Metcalf was exposed to the avant-garde of fine art and what it meant to explore the world through a creative process. A Colorado native Metcalf has been creating this form of art for about 6 years. He has had various solo shows and has been featured in over 10 group shows in his young career. Peaceful and thought provoking, he carries us on a journey into a world where both spiritual possibilities and scientific explorations become tangible, where we find a unique portrayal of reality. Approaching his craft with the utmost care and professionalism, Metcalf achieves a precise and deliberate quality in the art.

Homage to Mark Rothko, a reflective piece on the work of Rothko, for me the greatest abstract painter. Also Abstract Form my continuation of committing the female form in to the abstract. I’m presently looking for gallery space in the Southwest of England to display and sell my work.

JASON HOUCHEN
I like to think of myself as an urban folk artist. says Jason Houchen. Born in Sedalia, MO home of the Missouri State Fair, Houchen mixes folk, graffiti, arcane and traditional techniques to create sculptures, mixed media and detailed woodburning panels. From this amalgamation of styles combined with his Midwestern roots spring images of verve: spirits and spirituality, antiquity and memories. His work is ever evolving and now inspired by the burgeoning pop surrealism scene he discovered upon moving to Los Angeles four years ago. His work is favored by artists and art dealers and can be found in the private collections of; Liz McGrath, SHAG, Glenn Barr, Miles Thompson, Greg Escalante, Jan Corey Helford, Billy Shire and Annie Adjchavanich. Houchen received his BFA from the University of Missouri and has been included in numerous exhibitions including Tug Of War at Hemphill Fine Arts in Washington, DC. This is his second exhibition at La Luz de Jesus Gallery.

JORDIN ISIP
I find noise, litter and graffiti beautiful. Torn pieces of poster, loud, fast music, layered hip-hop, rap collages, sketches, loose concept. It’s all there. says Jordan Isip. His work incorporates ethnic and urban influences including African art, Southeast Asian art, Oceanic art, Mexican masks and art from the Philippines. Isip states that human conflict best describes his work. His mixed-media images have appeared on book covers, posters, t-shirts, records and CDs as well as numerous publications; Adbusters, The Atlantic Monthly, Juxtapoz, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Time. Isip has exhibited throughout the United States, Rome and Paris. He has taught at Tyler School of Art, PA School of Visual Arts, NYC and Rhode Island School of Design. Since receiving his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design Isip lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He currently teaches at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute in New York.

Born 1967, France
the artist lives and works in Georgia, United States

I am French born, spend many years in Germany and ended up in the United States where I live and work in the great warm state of Georgia. I paint in oil and watercolor, but I also experiment with other media and my experience in design can be found in some of my art creations. I am mostly self-taught. My motivation to paint was not to make money. My motivation was a strong desire to work with paint and have total creative freedom.

I worked in the digital field as a designer. After years of working digitally, I desired to get my hands dirty. I wanted to mix paint in a real, touchable, messy way.

I knew how to mix colors in my painters software, I knew what to do to get all kinds of shades of green but I really wanted to do that with tubes of paint and paint with real brushes. I wanted to smell paint, touch paint and work up paint on canvas.
Soon I realized that I had found the creative field that most satisfied me. I did less and less design work and I was driven to paint full time.

I took drawing classes at a local college, but that is where my formal art education ends.
I wanted to develop my own style. I wanted to develop my own intuitive creative process and did not want to distract myself by learning how to paint like someone else. Over the years I studied through books and practice.
I own a large library of art education, history and instruction books but my best teacher was and is the brush, the pencil, the ink pen, the paper, the canvas and most of all my subject. There is nothing that compares to the actual act of painting.

I paint landscapes, flowers, animals and many travel destinations and people. I’m inspired by places, things and people, I paint the scenes and things that matter in my life now and from times back in my twenties when I lived and traveled in Europe. I am beginning to feel the urge to alter reality.

My art is becoming increasingly popular.
Today I live my dream, painting my visions.

I have more then 400 individual collectors all over the world.
