About Jacqueline:
The beauty of people in photography goes beyond the reality, Jacqueline Rosenberg states, but that’s why we love it. Rosenbergs two decades as a fashion photographer served as a sort of vocational training for her artistic career; and her trade has now been fully converted into passion. She takes as her subject matter women of varying typesbut all strong, all emancipated in their femininity. Before transferring her photos onto canvas, Rosenberg superimposes upon them images of beads, jewels, geometric figures, out-of-proportion body parts from other photosa practice that results in framing the internal discourse of each piece, allotting a viewing experience that is more than the sum of its parts.

Her approach reminds one of Picasso and how his distortions were always meant to convey information, to guide the encounter. If theres a message Rosenberg hopes to convey, its that we should accept people of all kinds, and that we ourselves should be* *independent and free in our self-expression, our passions, and our joys.

A Beach near Folkestone

Born 1975, Antigua
the artist lives and works in Folkestone, England

Most of my work is produced in a very spontaneous way. I like to work for a few hours then leave the painting alone as soon as I feel it corresponds with what I am observing and it has developed a life of its own. I am interested in many types of painting and have tried various approaches in the past. However, I find the challenge of capturing the world I see around me to be the task to which I am repeatedly drawn. I am interested in seeing and capturing local colours and tones, in creating space on a flat surface using different colours, in capturing a scene before me at a particular moment, in how colours clash or complement each other and in how ones personality is expressed through the creative process. I have been working in acrylics for some time as they are so convenient when painting outdoors. I am fascinated by the internet and the fact that people all over the world view my paintings.
