I’m graduated in Pedagogy, but I’m in Arts since I was a child… and maybe it’s the reason that my works are so influenced by childhood’s feelings and stuff.
I’m completely crazy about Impressionism, but my works are most like Pop Art (movement that I like too).
My favourite mediuns are oil painting and coloured pencils, but I’ve worked with other mediuns for a long time.

Born 1951, USA

My approach to art is greatly influenced by the social climate of America in the 1950s and 1960s. I seek to reproduce significant feelings, images, and words that are reflective of the ever changing and maturing American cultural landscape that I experienced growing up in California.

I am a romantic with a strong yearning for the simple beauty and feelings of a time past. I document the disappearing periods of roadside billboards stacked like dominoes toward the future, of weathered words and images that alone make no sense but together evoke nostalgia, and the idea of alienated heroes who find the understanding of women elusive. By redefining and reintroducing these images I hope to spark a collective memory and address an inner association with a piece of Americas past.

Singular and combined processes are utilized to create mixed media collages. They integrate fragmented photographic imagery, familiar everyday objects, celebrated literary novels, and painted surfaces. Words and images are layered, juxtaposed, and abstracted to develop the narrative qualities of celebrated symbols and icons. I encapsulate this mythology of American vintage history in surfboard resin to preserve and fossilize the images and history that keep the innocent memories of my youth from disappearing.

I believe it is necessary for our country to re-evaluate its past in order to create its future. I want people to look at my paintings and recall a time when we were all fairly innocent and filled with hope for our future. If my work slows them down and elicits these feelings, then I am communicating what I feel about that time.
