, Hello, We are doing two things I wanted to bring to your attention… 1. The Don’t Panic poster design competition for the Stress theme is gaining entries fast. The top 10 designs with the highest votes will be judged by James Joyce from the One Fine Day studios and will then have their work exhibited at Don’t Panic Exhibition. The winner will then become the official Don’t Panic poster artist. Please could you post the details of this competition on your site so that budding designers / artists who visit your site will know how to enter? Please post a link to it in the Graphic Design / branding section of your site. We can put something up on our site for you in return. Competition details are as follows: Don’t Panic Poster Competition - Design a poster using the theme of ‘Stress’ as your inspiration. The 10 designs with the most online votes will have their posters exhibited at the special Don’t Panic Exhibition and will be judged by James Joyce (www.one-fine-day.co.uk). The winner’s artwork will also be printed on the Don’t Panic poster, and 80 thousand copies distributed throughout the UK. We will also supply the winner with 20 flat copies without advertising on the reverse, and sell 20 signed and 200 unsigned copies via our website, splitting the revenue with the artist. Previous Don’t Panic artists have included Banksy, Dr Parsons, Stanley Donwood and Elliot Thoburn, among others. 2. The new issue of the Don’t Panic magazine for the Money theme is now online. We have interviews with Real Gold, The Real Heat and Chris Atkins the director of Taking Liberties. We also have music from Rosie Oddie and art from Gary Hume, Monsito and Dr Parsons. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Peter. Website: Don’t Panic Competition

2007 Artery Gallery, 43 South Street, St Andrews, Scotland Scott Carruthers is currently exhibiting his new series of works at Artery Gallery in St Andrews. His work is inspired by a mix of the nostalgia from his own childhood along with watching his own kids grow from day to day. Not necessarily making any comparisons, but being reminded of his nostalgic years and how their life today differs in these modern times, yet somehow mirror his own childhood. Scott explains the mindset behind each piece; Happy Cycling - “Kids love their wheels and everyone surely remembers their first bike or trike with its gleaming paint job (mine was purple with white wheels!). It’s a fundamental part of childhood to ride a bike, and kids are always eager to ride around on their beloved machine, lost in their own adventurous world. It introduces them also to their wider surroundings, they learn about the areas where they live, they meet up with friends, they go places…albeit just to end of the street and back!” Kid For today - “There is a myth that doing nothing is wasting time, when it’s actually extremely productive and essential. During empty hours, kids explore the world at their own pace, develop their own unique set of interests and indulge in the sort of fantasy play that will help them figure out how to create their own happiness. When they are watching television, even if there is nothing particularly on, you just know they are sitting there lost in their own imagination. However, always the inquisitive, a kid will stop and stare at something that they feel is far more interesting!” Artery Gallery has been a major supporter of contemporary Scottish artists over the years and continues to boost up and coming artist profiles, as well as the well established. Original, accessible and affordable art at Artery Gallery that may very well become your future antique! Website: arteryuk

Born 1971, England the artist lives and works in St Neots, England Born in London in 1971, David King has always had an interest in art. Even from a young age his school teachers would tell his parents that he was able to draw and paint. He studied GCSE Art & followed that with an Art A-level. He then left school to work at a nearby screenprinting company (screenprinting was part of his A-level course). After working several jobs, he then started work with a local photographic printer. He had always had an interest in photography- which was something he says he “gets from his Dad”. He spent several years working at the photo printer’s but he still carried on drawing and painting in his spare time. “Art has just been a hobby of mine and I didn’t really think my work was anything special,” he says but after several people expressed an interest in owning some of the paintings he had created, he realised that some of them were better than he thought. He paints in a variety of styles and likes to “experiment with colour.” He gets his inspiration from everything around him and the slightest thing can spark something from inside his mind. He hopes that people can find the inspiration in his work and now, with the aid of this site, he hopes to reach a wider audience. Website: kingscanvas
