Oscar B. was born in 1960 in Paris, but he will live the biggest part of his life in Nantes. Lover of this harbour city with industrial atmospheres, in the tints intoxicates and makes rusty, in the chaotic climates, it will be the vital lead of his creation.

From its youngest age Oscar B. draws and paints, but the labour environment in which he evolves does not intend him for the art. Nevertheless, he makes in 1977 one year to the Beaux Arts School of Nantes, that will confirm his taste for the painting, the drawing and the art in general, but with an aversion for academicism.

His rather eclectic, artistic route is marked out by different forms of expression (industrial Rock, Photography, computer graphics) in the urban, post-industrial influences and the representations of it are sometimes believed. In parallel, Oscar B. will be successively: night petrol pump attendant in the suburb of Nantes, worker in a factory of metal industry, a carrier of blood products, a technician to the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH in Orsay (France), an auxiliary civil servant at the office of cultural action in the Ministry of Education in Paris etc. … These multiple experiences will contribute to anchor the artistic work of Oscar B. in the reality.
Influenced by the urban and industrial atmospheres, Oscar B. work on the details containing a load more emotional, more sensory, more enigmatic, more humorous, more erotic in order to transcend them. Each can loosen taken and to mislead on these crossing ways, to immerse itself in these waters disturbances in all liberty.

Scott Hayes is a multidisciplinary artist working in the areas of video, film, performance, the internet, painting and sculpture. Work has been exhibited in Europe, Australia and the USA. See website for CV.
Recent and current work involves the monthly internet broadcast (VOD) of episodes from a series that deals with various topics : The End of the World, The (conspiracy) Theory of Art, Tolerance, Money, Formalism etc. These problems are dealt with in a couterpuntal manner and often examine the ambiguation inherent in humour, whilst attempting to comment upon pertinent issues and problems. The episodes are acted out using characters that have been in development since at least 2000. Central to Hayes’ work is the creation and inhabitation of characters and ideas, or problems that constantly re-appear or morph in other works and forms.
Along with video and performance there are strong painting and material lines that run through Hayes’ work, making the practice an abstract interlinking, that is in a constant state of movement.
